Print / Artwork with Text or a Signature

If your print / artwork has whitespace around it, you need to decide if you want to see this whitespace or not. If you want to see it, measure the outside and enter those sizes into our website. If you want a mount to cover the whitespace, measure the actual size of the print / artwork, excluding the whitespace, as illustrated below. Remember, a mount will overlap your print / artwork by 4mm on each side and make the outside of the frame larger.

All picture frames overlap their artwork by approx 5mm. If this overlap was not there, the artwork would just fall through the front of the frame.

When you choose a frame with a single or double mount, the mount will overlap your artwork by 4mm on each side. For example, if you enter your artwork size as 100mm x 100mm, the inside of the mount will measure 92mm x 92mm. This is so that your have just enough room to attach your artwork behind the mount using tape. The mount will then make the frame larger, depending on the size of the mount you order.

Avoid common mistakes by remembering these key facts.

• All sizes displayed on our web site indicate what size artwork the frame will fit. These sizes are not the size of the outside of the frame.
• A mount will overlap your artwork by 4mm on each side and make your frame larger.

All our frames are suitable for framing canvases, however there are a few things that you need to keep in mind. You must choose no mount as the mount style. You wont be able to fit your canvas to a frame with a mount. If your canvas is stretched on a stretcher bar, you must choose canvas clips from the accessories. Lastly, we generally recommend choosing no glazing when framing canvases.

If you are framing artwork, such as a painting, we recommend you choose a mount with your frame. A mount is about 1.3mm thick and is great for keeping the glazing from touching your artwork. Remember, a mount will cover your artwork by 4mm on each side and make the outside of the frame larger.

The last thing we want is to hear that you have received a frame that does not fit due to a measuring mistake.
