Home Décor Trends 2020
Cheap made to measure frames are an excellent way to add things that you love to your home, and we like nothing better than to fill our walls with pictures of the people that we love, or memories of places you’ve been. However, we also like to ensure the rest of our home is update regularly, so we keep up with the latest trends.
Some trends last for one season and then they are gone, while other last for years with slight tweaks. Take the Nordic Trend for example, an interiors trend that has been around for a while and shows no sign of slowing down in popularity.
So, if you are like us and like to keep on top of interior trends, so that you can tweak your home décor to make sure it is bang up to date, then keep reading. We have pulled together a round-up of the top interior trends for 2020 to inspire you to give your homes a refresh.
Trend One: Bold and Bright
This free-spirited and fund trend takes its inspiration from expressionist artwork and so is a great way for you to show a little personality in your home. Frame your favourite abstract print in one of our custom made frames cheap and then use the blocks of colour and bold geometric shapes to influence the rest of your home.
This trend is playful and creates a fun mood, through the use of punchy colours and bold patterns. You can go really bold with your colour choices, with a palette of navy blue with red or mauve highlighted with mustard.
Trend Two: Nordic Simplicity
This trend has evolved from the Nordic Retreat trend that was so popular this year, and offers you stripped back style which is comfy and calm. Fans of this trend say it makes your home a place to relax and unwind in, and a safe space to regenerate.
As you can imagine, the colour palette for this trend is focussed on neutrals but not grey (that has had its day). This neutral colour palette is more warming in order to help us to feel calm and uplifted, featuring colours such as beige, oatmeal and natural buff. The key words to keep in mind when choosing furniture and décor are soft and neutral.
Trend Three: Cosy Comforts
This trend is one that anyone can get on board with, and is all about making your home feel as warm and inviting as possible. Layer up tactile and cosy throws, blankets, knits, cushions and faux fur to keep you cosy through the winter and well into the spring!
With a similar colour palette to the Nordic Simplicity trend, this scheme focuses on neutral colours such as cool blue and grey mixed with warmer tones of pink and brown. You could also add highlight pieces in mossy greens or teal if you want.
Key for this trend is tactile materials and soft colours so grab thick woollen blankets with tassels, quilted bedspreads and throws, and tactile woven throws and pile them on.
Trend Four: Eclectic Glamour
The glamour trend in 2020 is bold and sassy. Think grown up 1930s glamour mixed with a little 1970s opulence and you have a good idea of what this theme looks like. Fluid shapes and rounded curves on furniture with scalloped details for soft elegance.
Key pieces should be in rich tones such as royal blue and ruby red, then layer up with bronze, ochre and rose. This trend is all about the bling as well, so don’t be afraid to go a little wild with brushed bronze, burnished copper or gleaming gold pieces.
You can really show your flamboyant side with this trend – display a cocktail trolley in your lounge or place a characterful statement chair in your bedroom. Velvet is the key material to use, and you can use it anywhere from your bedhead, to lightshades and even curtains.
Trend Five: Look East
Japan is growing as an inspiration for interior trends, and many of the most popular interior collections over the past few seasons have had a Japanese influence. This winter has seen it really stand out though as a trend in its own right, and it is one that we think will continue to be popular into the new year.
The Japanese trend is characterised by structured furniture shapes, rich silk textures, stylised oriental prints and graceful bird motifs. Take a look at some Japanese home interiors for inspiration and keep things pared back with a subdued colour palette and minimalistic styling.
Colour wise we are seeing light grey, pale blue and muted green mixed with richer shades of emerald, indigo and black with black furniture also making a return (mixed with some lighter wood pieces for balance).
Trend Six: Retro Fusion
This trend looks back to the past, and draws its inspiration from Mid-Century modern interiors and design choices. It is a mix of 1970s colours, 50s signature furniture styles and the scalloped shapes of the Art Deco period – which is where the word ‘fusion’ comes into play.
Key colours include Green, Mustard, Night Watch and Tan while fabric choices err towards buff leather, wood and velvet.
Trend Seven: Soft Tropics
The botanical trend shows no sign of losing its popularity with botanical prints being seen everywhere on the high street. You can go for outsize tropical palms for a real burst of nature, or pare things back a bit with more painterly design.
Colours are washed out and muted for winter, think blue, leaf green, mustard and pink.
Trend Eight: Global Eclecticism
Why choose just one country to draw interior inspiration from, when you can mix and match the pieces you love from all over the world? This trend takes a global view of patterns and interior style and fuses it all together. Think paisley and intricate Indian prints mixed with bold ikat designs. Go for a nomadic feel with rugged, handcrafted textures to help you to feel right at home.
Hand thrown pottery pieces and macramé detailing are perfect for this look, especially when paired with hand-dyed textiles in shades of umber and terracotta. The key to this look is the beauty of the craftsmanship, which helps to make natural materials look effortlessly stylish.
